Umbraco Education Programme kicks off in the UK!

Last month Method4 had the pleasure of being the first company in the UK to deliver the Umbraco Education Programme.

The Umbraco Education Programme is an amazing scheme from our friends at Umbraco HQ, giving students at education institutions all over the world the opportunity to attend the Umbraco Fundamentals training course for free and gain an official certification to add to their CVs. Umbraco is the fastest growing open source .NET Content Management System in the world, making development skills a valuable asset.

As an Umbraco Gold Partner we employ graduates from all over the world, so we were delighted to be asked to deliver these training sessions in our local universities. We teamed up with the Computer Science Department at Cardiff University and asked their students to apply for the course by answering a simple question: “I believe I have a passion for web development because…”. The university had the  unenviable job of whittling the applicants down to the initial 20 places available.

On the day, our crack team of Umbraco pros, Darren our Technical Director and James one of our experienced Umbraco developers and a Certified Umbraco Master, headed off to Cardiff University. The students were brilliant and all keen to get to grips with Umbraco. It was a long day with lots to learn with differing levels of knowledge but we were beyond thrilled to see so many of them pass the exam and become Umbraco Certified Professionals.

We received some great feedback from the students following the course and we're looking forward to getting back in the classroom soon!
